The LN 2003 skew block plane is cast with a special ductile iron body, white bronze cap and fence. One of Lie-Nielsen’s first planes, the 140 block plane has been produced in bronze for many years. These iron models are unique and were specially made just for the 2003 limited edition. The iron body, with a highly polished white bronze cap and a Cocobolo knob, produces a beautiful tool of the highest quality.

These planes are manufactured to the highest standard and finished to perfection. A beautiful plane to own that will become a valuable collectible, but also a fully working tool that will–if you choose to use it–produce cross-grain shavings you can see through far into the millennium.

The LN 2003 planes will only be available for a limited time. The total production is limited to 500, with the number 2003 cast into the body of each plane. Special casting ensures that the planes cannot be copied, and the foundry patterns used to produce the planes will be destroyed once the 500 have been created. The side plate of each plane will be engraved with its individual serial number, from 1 to 500. Each plane is housed in a specially designed box with a certificate of authenticity.

In addition to the standard right-hand model, Lie-Nielsen has agreed to make a special edition of 100 left-hand planes. No toolmaker, including Lie-Nielsen, has ever offered the left-hand 140. These unique planes will be manufactured to the same exacting standards and of the same materials as the right-hand models. The planes are being offered first-come, first-served.
