B69-39 SHUTTLE PLANE. Stanley No. HFL-L2082E. Patented November 24, 1885, by L. Leeds, and designed for smoothing and squaring up the sides of wooden shuttles used in textile looms. Manufactured by Stanley for only 30 years or so; only a few examples have been found and ones with the metal frames the plane attaches to, like this one, are exceptionally rare. In addition to the frame, this example has a 2" vee cutter, 9-3/4" sole, japanning 90%, wood has light wear. From the collection of Norm Otto. Good+ 1200-2400
