B69-87 STRAPPED FIRE AXE. William Gilpin. Strapped head with 4-1/2" blade, 22" original handle, marked "W. Gilpin, C & M, 1899" on the blade. Steel has surface oxidation and a few patches of light pitting but overall clean and sharp. Gilpin was a firm that operated two works, Churchbridge Works and Wedges Mills, near Cannock, north of Birmingham, England, from 1834 to 1946. From the collection of Hank Allen. Good 125-250
