B56-157. RIP SAW. Spear & Jackson. 23" blade with nib and clear 1850s etch, 5-1/2 tpi. Fruitwood handle has an elaborate cast brass plate that we haven't seen before and isn't described in Barley. It includes the word "Aetna"; the Aetna Works were in use from 1852 through 1874. Horns are shortened, crack in lower part, one of the four conical nuts securing the brass plate is missing.
