B56-533. JACK PLANE. Morris Patent Sole. Of all the attempts to design a sole that would reduce friction this waffle-shaped pattern is among the dumbest, and therefore rare and very collectible. Patented in 1870 by Ellis Morris of Salem, Ohio, and sold briefly by Sandusky as the "Diamond Metallic" plane before they came to their senses, this is the jack plane length, 16", iron sole is in good clean condition noting a small chip at the heel, body repainted, original beech knob tote replaced, wedge has some damage, 2-1/4" A. Mathieson cutter probably a replacement. Good+ 500 - 1000 **ALL ABSENTEE BIDS MUST BE RECEIVED BY END OF DAY FRIDAY JUNE 26, 2020.
