B57-247 LOT OF THREE TRY SQUARES. George Buck. All with solid iron handles and unruled blades. One has a 2-1/4" handle, with and 4-1/2" blade and is marked "Buck Tot. Court Rd."; one has a 3" handle and 8" blade and is marked only "1882"; the third has a 5" handle and 10" blade and is marked "1903" with the user name "E. Slaughter" decoratively engraved in the blade. Although only one is marked by Buck, one of the most prolific London planemakers who, followed by his widow, worked at Tottenham Court Road from the 1830s into the twentieth century, all appear to have been made by the same hand; the two shorter ones have the same decorative scallops in the edges of the handles.
