B57-470 ADJUSTABLE FENCE PLOW PLANE. Sandusky Scissor Arm. Patented by Ellis Morris of Canton, Ohio, in 1871, and manufactured by Sandusky, unmarked but unmistakable. This is the version with the wider throat with thumbscrew cutter clamp and the separate throat for a nicker. There's an original label pasted to the sole which is no place for a label if you want it to last; it's about 50% legible. Beech tote and wedge have normal wear but no damage, japanning about 80%, surface rust on arms. Unmarked cutter pitted at the edge. From the Bud Steere collection. Good 1500-3000 **All bids must be placed by end of day Friday, October 30, 2020. Auction takes place live-in-person at the Wyndham Garden, York, PA, at 9:00am, Saturday, October 31.
