B58-398 HANDSAW. J. Taylor & Sons. Unusual configuration with a 13" blade that curves down at the handle, possibly a panel or compass saw, shaped a little like a pruning saw but ground crosscut. The lamb's-tongue handle has no horns and no sign that it ever had. The blade is marked with Taylor's "Advance" trademark in the form of a lamb with a halo and banner, and the handle has a brass plate, with the same Advance mark, held by four split nuts. J. Taylor & Son was a predecessor to Taylor Brothers, a major Sheffield sawmaker beginning in the 1840s. Good+ 150-250
