B58-519 WHEELWRIGHT'S PLANE. Fretz Patent. Patented 7/5/59 by Reuben Fretz of Montville, OH, and designed to trim the rims of carriage wheels. 31" arm with a 20" adjustable curved head. Has Fretz's name and patent information written on it in pencil, and is accompanied by a framed copy of the original deed in which Fretz appears to assign all of his interest in the plane to himself, so may have been owned by Fretz personally. A unique piece of American toolmaking history. From the Dennis Fisher collection. Good+ 400-800
