B58-552 EXPERIMENTAL JACK PLANE. A handful of these planes, including one wood-bodied, have turned up near the Massachusetts-Rhode Island border. They're unmarked, and may be an experimental model that never went into production. The blade adjustment is a cast brass pivoting assembly that engages a hole in the cap iron. 14-3/4" sole, 2-1/2" Buck Bros. cutter, large turned maple knob, rosewood tote with a well reglued split and front portion sheared. The actual plane pictured in PTAMPIA II, Figure 128. From the Bud Steere collection. Good+ 250-500
