B58-558 PATENTED BENCH PLANE. Louis Rodier. Affectionately known as the "squiggly plane." Rodier's patent was for his adjustment mechanism, intended to simultaneously regulate the set of the cutter and the width of the mouth, but his planes are best known for their corrugated sides and the serpentine grooves cast into the sole. This one has a 9" sole , and a 2-1/8" James Cam cutter. There's a big chip from the end of the tote and the grooves in the sole are worn flat at the heel. The plane as a whole is grubby with some surface corrosion, but a very rare plane that would repay careful cleaning. Good 500-800
