B58-576 EIGHTEENTH CENTURY CORNICE PLANE. I.B. Waltons. Cove and ovolo, 2-5/8" profile, 12-1/4" sole with narrow flat chamfers and offset open tote. Wood is super clean and may have been refinished; the peg holding the tote is a little proud and the mark a little weak. There's some original tear out on the right rear cheek. I.B. Waltons was the mark used by John and Benjamin Walton, the sons of John Walton, Jr., one of America's earliest planemakers. This is their A "In Reading" mark, four stars, with "JJP" user initials. From the collection of Arnold "Jake" Johnson. Fine 600-1200
