B58-653 LASTING HAMMER. Peters Patent. Unusually nice example of Lawrence Peters' 1878 patent, for use by cobblers in lasting, or attaching the sole. Has its often missing original awl and spring to assist in removal. Patent date on head partly worn but legible. Good original handle. Fine 150-250
