Haeberli & Schmidt Patent. One of the rarest and most gizmoish braces, patented in 1907 by two guys from Buffalo and sold (briefly) by Goodell-Pratt. Ranked A for rarity by Pearson, and for once Ron's ranking is still accurate. The bitstock can be removed from the angle brace frame and used as a traditional brace. Marked only "Patent Applied For." In nice clean overall condition with 95% japanning; the spring-type alligator jaws are chipped but you could easily replace them with jaws from a $5 brace. Good+ 300-600 B58-629 2021-04-18T11:13:00+01:00 2021-04-18T11:13:00+01:00 /auction/list-auctions/viewbids/7206/b58-629 B58-629 CORNER BRACE. Bennett & Bloedel Patent. Manufactured by LMK Machine Company. An uncommon brace, with its usually missing detachable handle, nickel about 60% with some light pitting, wood handles clean. The ratchet mechanism is a little wonky and if you want to actually drill with it, it may need some work. Good 150-250 B58-628 2021-04-18T11:14:00+01:00 2021-04-18T11:14:00+01:00 /auction/list-auctions/viewbids/7205/b58-628 B58-628 BREAST DRILL. McClellan Patent. Stephen McClellan, originally of San Marcos, TX, and subsequently of New York, is known for his corner braces covered by four patents, but he also patented this breast drill with a handle that can be moved to different positions for corner work, and two protruding ears used to anchor a chain. Far rarer than the corner braces, this one is in good shape noting a large chip from the handle and overall surface oxidation. The handle is stamped "McClellan Sound Beach CT" which is a mark we haven't seen.
