B62-546. JACK PLANE. Steers Patent. Extremely rare example of William Steers' first patent, received in 1880 while he was still living in Sherburne, Quebec, and apparently manufactured there, before he moved to Vermont and hooked up with the Brattleboro Tool Co. See PTAMPIA II, Figure 210a. Cutter is marked "Steers & Long Patent", faint but legible; Long was Steers' partner in Quebec and is only credited as an inventor on the Canadian patent.
