B62-624. SET OF THREE COACHMAKER'S PLANES. John Veit. These planes have a configuration we've never seen. Two of them are ovolos, 1-1/4" and curved in opposite directions, and the third is a cove with quirked bead, which is radiused to follow a curve. The weird thing is that on all three, the pattern only takes up the first 5" of the sole, and the last 2" is flat. We're calling them coachmaker's planes because those were typically shorter to follow complex curves, and it looks like these were designed to combine the shorter sole with the grip of a full size plane. If you've got a better theory we'd love to hear it. There's a check in one sole, otherwise very clean. A mark. From the collection of Carl Bopp. Good+ 100-200
