B63-442. JOINTER. Z. Phillips Patent. Very rare example of the cutter adjustment mechanism patented 5/10/70 by Zephaniah Phillips of Dixon, IL. PTAMPIA I, Figure 151. 22" long. The part of the depth adjustment attached to the front of the throat, with "Pat'd 1870" cast into throat piece, is there, but unfortunately the second part of the patent, the cutter riveted to a depth adjustment, is missing; instead there's just a common cutter. The tote has been broken and reglued in two places, and there's a repair plate in front of the mouth. Still a very rare plane, rated R1, fewer than five examples expected, by Blanchard & Larson.
