B63-549. EIGHTEENTH CENTURY MOLDING PLANE. F. Nicholson. A 1/4" round, it's only 7-5/8" long and clearly not shortened, which is very unusual. According to Steve's notes, he found it in the bottom of a toolbox and showed it to Dave Englund, who confirmed that it was the shortest Nicholson he'd ever seen or heard of. It's 2-1/2" high at the heel but only 2" at the toe, with narrow flat chamfers and a relieved wedge, B2 mark. The finish is worn off where the left cheek slopes to join the sole, and about half way up the right cheek, giving it a distinctive two-tone appearance. There are a few scratches, and the heel has been struck, but otherwise in very clean condition. From the collection of Steve Dice. Good+ 1000-2000
