B63-550. EIGHTEENTH CENTURY MOLDING PLANE. "IA in Norton." 3/8" round, 9-7/8" long, wide flat chamfers, with fluting on both ends in a lamb's-tongue detent pattern, relieved wedge. A handful of planes with this mark have been found, and recent research published by Patrick Lasswell in the June 2022 Chronicle found a strong possibility that the maker is Jacob Austin, Jr., an apprentice of Henry Wetherel.
