B63-626. MODERN MAKER. Set of HNT Gordon Ringed Gidgee Planes. Made by Australia's master planemakers. 22 planes total, a complete set of 18 hollows and rounds, plus a pair of side rounds and a pair of snipe bills with brass boxing. Gidgee is a reddish-brown hardwood endemic to Australia that Gordon uses for its highest quality planes; "ringed" gidgee means it has a curly figure to the grain, like curly maple. The entire set is contained in a dovetailed cherry case made by the owner, 12" by 10" and 13" high, with brass fittings, including a plaque engraved "Wm. Webber" and working lock (keys included). The planes themselves are in the top with a hinged lid, and there is also a drawer that holds the paperwork and wood samples with various profiles. All the planes are in mint, unused condition. An absolutely stunning collection. According to the paperwork, Bill paid $4,000 US for it in 2019; it would cost you more today. From the collection of Bill Webber. Fine 2000-4000
