B64-615. DOUBLE-BODIED HAWK PLANE. J.R. Tolman. Hawk planes were used in shipyards to cut grooves in the sides of wooden ships to guide the painting of stripes. We've never seen one with two bodies, but this looks original; all parts match and both bodies are marked by Tolman. The sliding arms and sloping depth stops are all locked by carved wooden wingnuts. There's a stain on the right cheek of the outer body and some miscellaneous dings, but overall very clean, and possibly unique. Condition: Good+, Estimate: 400-800
