B67-121 TRANSITIONAL PLANE. Chaplin's Patent No. 75. Uncommon example of Chaplin's first patent in the form of a 9" transitional smoother as sold by Tower & Lyon. See PTAMPIA I, Figure 193. Proper marked 2" cutter, also clearly marked with patent information on the toe. Japanning 50%, nickel plating on lever cap worn, wood very clean with original finish.
