B67-401 ADJUSTABLE MOVING FILLETSTER. Crisford Patent. Red beech body with boxwood wedges, large brass adjustment knob on heel that moves rack and pinion mechanism to adjust fence. Arms have brass racks on underside, as well as two large brass shields under the arms at the body marked "Patent No. 2461, C. Crisford." Corner boxed sole with crack in boxing. Wear to edge of fence but wood otherwise clean. Made by Kimberly & Sons with light mark on toe. Crisford's 1884 patent was the first British patent to utilize a rack and pinion system to adjust the arms of a plow or filletster; Kimberly received its own patent in 1887 but this was made by them using Crisford's design. 5 stars in Murland, see page 168.
