B67-451 SLITTING GAUGE. John Williams. An exceptionally attractive Ultimatum-style gauge, very dark rosewood, 6" long with square brass plated head, good sharp blade. It's faintly marked "Williams Longacre." There was a John Williams listed as a lathe and toolmaker on Longacre Road in central London, which was dominated by the coachmaking trade in the nineteenth century. An uncommon mark; the gauge itself is very clean with a few small scratches and a user name. Fine 100-200
