B67-651 RABBETING BLOCK PLANE. Norwood. Patented by John E. Norwood on April 6, 1875, the patented feature was the fact that the cutter extends to the edge of the sole through openings in both cheeks so it could be used to cut rabbets as well as a traditional block plane. See PTAMPIA I, Figure 162. Manufacturer is unknown. Plane has 7-1/2" sole, 1-3/4" cutter worn short and marked with patent date. Japanning 75%, metal clean. From the collection of Harold Unruh.
