B67-662 PROTOTYPE CHAMFER SHAVE. Justus Traut Patent. With the original patent papers. Traut's patent No. 316079, which was the basis for the No. 72 chamfer plane, actually described a shave using the same mechanism subsequently used in the plane. The shave version was never put into production, but this one matches the patent exactly. Marked with model shop number 776 and has an original Stanley cutter. Japanning nearly complete. Probably the only one ever made. From the collection of Paul Van Pernis. Fine 4000-8000
