B68-97 LOT OF TWO SURGEON'S BRACES. Stainless steel, one marked Codman & Shurtleff, a historic Boston-based manufacturer of surgical and dental instruments established in 1838, known for supplying instruments during the Civil War and later becoming part of Johnson & Johnson, with an unusual chuck that extends bit by turning knurled thumbscrew at opposite end, 4-1/2" sweep. Other is by Mueller & Co., with a trepanning bit and 7" sweep. Both with rotating grips and light wear but overall clean. From the collection of Jim and Christa Schoenky. Good+ 200-400
