B68-353 SMOOTHING PLANE. Leonard Bailey Split Frame. Series B-2 type with 8-1/2" sole, 1-3/4" T. Ellin cutter, slightly spalled, with Wm Ash chipbreaker. Paddle-shaped adjustment screw, and the knob has been squared off at the rear to accommodate the screw. Rosewood tote that appears original, with some dings but no damage. Slip-in lever cap, brass cap screw is worn but intact. See Van Pernis & Wells, Figure 1-17. Metal oxidized but clean. An excellent example of one of the holy grails of patented plane collecting.
