B68-501 JACK PLANE. Unmarked and has the look of a prototype that never made it into production. 15-1/2" sole; it has a two-part frog similar to the one Stanley used on the Type 3 only (and also used by Bailey), with the top supporting piece attached to the bed with machine screws. 2-1/4" Moulson Bros. cutter, distinctive shaped lever cap; rosewood tote that slides into a dovetailed boss in the bed, tip sheared off and a split in the base; two-part rosewood knob that attaches to a wood screw. Traces of japanning, metal clean. An intriguing mystery plane. Good 200-400
