B68-513 SMOOTHING PLANE. Louis Rodier Patent. Rodier's 1879 patent was for his adjustment mechanism, intended to simultaneously regulate the set of the cutter and the width of the mouth, but his planes, manufactured by Laflin Mfg. Co., are best known for their corrugated sides and the serpentine grooves cast into the sole. This one has a 9" sole, and a 2-1/8" Buck Bros. cutter. Wood has light wear, japanning 80%, metal clean. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good+ 600-1200
