B68-521 MODEL SHOP PROTOTYPE. Steel Throated Transitional. A Stanley No. 27 transitional jack plane, Type 9, in which the frog extends to form a steel lining to the throat, and terminates in a 1" by 2" steel plate inset into the sole that surrounds the mouth. The model shop number 211 is written on the plane in four separate locations. Never put into production. The plane itself is in near fine condition, as would be expected of a tool that was never used, with complete finish (noting some light staining on the sole) and 99% japanning.
