B68-529 VERNIER COMPASS. Isaac Chandlee. 4-1/2" needle, brass dial with no levels, tally counter in south arm, sighting vanes. Engraved "Isaac Chandlee, Nottingham," around center dial with fleur de lis at north. Isaac Chandlee was the younger brother of Goldsmith Chandlee, and was also one of the three instrument maker sons of Benjamin Chandlee, all of whom were included in the famous "Six Quaker Clockmakers" of revolutionary era America; his working years were 1790 to 1813 and instruments made by him are uncommon.
