B68-531 MINING TRANSIT. A Lietz. Compass has 4" needle and blackened dial. 7" A-frame support with full circle. 10-1/2" scope with hanging level, case includes auxiliary scope. Four point base, brass is oxidized but undamaged, in intact mahogany case. Mining transits are uncommon, and generally included a second scope, that could be tilted at angles where the main scope would be blocked to sight down mine shafts. In this example, the auxiliary scope is attached to the end of the main scope support, with a counterweight on the other end, as shown in the photo. Good+ 800-1600
