B68-536 STOP CHAMFER PLANE. Lee Patent. Cast iron version of Joseph Lee's iconic stop chamfer plane. Lee was constantly fiddling with the design and it sometimes seems that no two are alike; this one has a rotating cutter clamp that is closer to the original patent than the church-window design found on some later planes, and arms with decorative acorn finials. Lee's name and patent date and number are cast into the body and lever cap, but not marked with manufacturer Thurston, all of which leads us to believe it's an earlier model. Japanning fully intact, slight wear to tote. One of the nicest examples we've seen. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Fine 2000-4000
