B68-539 SMOOTHING PLANE. Steers No. 303. The adjustable version of William Steers' patented bench planes with rosewood inserts in the sole to reduce friction, manufactured by Brattleboro Tool Co. Proper marked cutter, wood and metal clean noting a crack in the tip of the tote, as is often the case, missing the set screw in the lever cap. Japanning 90%, rosewood inserts have a couple of minor chips near toe. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good+ 250-500
