B68-650 SMOOTHING PLANE. Birmingham Plane Co. Decent example of the planes based on George Mosher's 1884 patent, in the smallest size with a 6-3/4" sole and 1-1/2" cutter. Has the clamp-type cutter holder (PTAMPIA I, figure 233b), cutter is original but no visible mark; some chipping to the depth adjusting rack that doesn't show when the cutter is in place. Crack in the left cheek where it looks like it was dropped. The No. 1 of Birmingham planes. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good 400-800
