B68-698 CIRCULAR SAW GAUGE. M.B. Tidey. Mounted on circular saws to act as a rip fence. 19" by 14", cast iron and wood, marked "Superior Machinery" and "M.B. Tidey, Newark, NJ." Japanning 90%, works smoothly. Patented by Tidey on March 10, 1857. Marcus Tidey is best known to tool collectors as one of the patentees (and manufacturer) of the very rare Tidey double beveling plane, but he also had a successful manufacturing business and was an early maker of table saws.
