B68-749 REVERSIBLE BLOCK PLANE. Thropp Patent. Similar to a Stanley No. 130 where the cutter can be reversed to serve as either a block or bullnose. 7-3/8" sole and 1-5/8" unmarked cutter marked. The lever cap is hooked onto a metal hook cast into the bed. It has "Patent 7855" cast into the lever cap, which was issued to John Thropp of Sheffield, and most examples were made by Wingfield & Rowbotham, a firm founded in 1751 and better known for its edge tools and cutlery. Japanning 90% and metal clean. Good 75-150
