TC26-350 BENCH PLANE. Henry Price Patent. The innovation of this plane, patented by Henry Price of New York, NY, in 1879, was a stepped frog base that allowed the blade to be set at different angles. It isn't listed in PTAMPIA I or II, and was unknown until one turned up about 10 years ago and was pictured in Roger Smith's 2010 calendar. A handful have been found since then, and this example has a 9" sole with laminated tote and knob, the frog and brass lever cap resemble the Bailey design, with a Stanley 1892 patent date cutter. The tote has several reglued splits and chips from end. Knob has moderate wear. Metal oxidized with some light pitting. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good 1000-2000
