B56-346. IRON FILLETSTER PLANE. William Lowe Patent. Clearly engraved "Wm. Lowe's Patent Newark N.J.", but the patent is unknown, not listed in either PTAMPIA or Larson & Blanchard. It closely resembles the filletster made by Metallic Plane Co. (PTAMPIA I Figure 214), except that the cutter is not skewed or adjustable. 9" sole, steel and gunmetal body, gunmetal skate with decorative casting, rosewood tote and knob. There's an old chip from one corner of the cutter bed, but otherwise near mint. The only other one we know is in the D'Elia Museum. From a legendary private collection of infill and metal planes.
