B56-514. WRENCH. Bristol Patent. Patented June 26, 1855, by Charles Bristol of Naugatuck, CT, it features five different size box wrenches on a rotating iron head, locked in place by a sliding pin on the handle. 10" long overall, marked just with the patent. It was described in Scientific American at the time as "Bristol's Rotating Wrench", but the manufacturer is unknown. Part of the central nut appears to have chipped off but it doesn't affect the function. From the collection of Bud Steere.
