B57-072 ROUTLEDGE ENGINEER'S RULE. Thos Bradburn & Sons. Invented in 1811 and described by Phil Stanley as "probably the most elaborately marked and graduated boxwood rules ever made." A twofold, two-foot rule with a brass slide and with extensive tables used to perform common engineering calculations of the nineteenth century. Unlike most, both legs are fully brass bound, with iron ends, characteristic of the Bradburn firm, which was founded in Birmingham in 1834 and was acquired by Preston in 1876. Clean and straight with user initials neatly marked in one side. Good+ 100-200 **All bids must be placed by end of day Friday, October 30, 2020.
