B58-042 LOT OF THREE TIRE BOLT WRENCHES. Byrne Patent. Patented by John Byrne in 1888 and used to attach steel tires to wheel rims. Originally manufactured by Byrne & Ziegaus of Sharon, WI, and subsequently by Leavens Mfg. of Vineland, NJ; Stanley acquired the patent around 1905 and sold it as the No. 1. This set includes one with the original maker's name and patent date cast into the body (the bolt that adjusts the pivot point may be an old replacement). one with the brown finish that was used by Leavens, and an unmarked Stanley version.
