B59-366 IVORY FRAMED BRACE. William Marples Ultimatum. Very rare example of the Ultimatum brace with solid ivory fill and head. Metal frame elaborately engraved. Sliding ring type chuck, No medallion in head. Since the head is ivory, the ring is ebony. There are two tight cracks in the head but overall the ivory is very clean and white. A handful of ivory Ultimatums are known, usually intended as presentation pieces, which is reinforced by the elaborate engraving. See Eaton, page 161, for an example.
