B61-100 POD BRACE. E. Mills. Sheffield-style unplated brace, manufactured by Edward Mills of Philadelphia who was one of the partners in Booth & Mills. It is also stamped "Premium Awarded by New York and Philadelphia Institutes." This stamp is typically found on Booth & Mills braces, apparently Mills thought he was entitled to keep using it after he and Booth split. Beech, 6" sweep, includes one rosewood pod with spoon bit, head looks like lignum with very tight check. From the collection of Carl Bopp. Fine 100-200
