B67-117 COFFIN SMOOTHING PLANE. D.T. Mallett Hardware 6" sole with 1-1/2" double cutter. The toe and cutter are both marked by D.R. Barton, but what makes this plane special is the circular brass tag ahead of the throat embossed "From D.T. Mallett I.X.L New Haven, Connecticut." Mallett was a hardware dealer located in New Haven in 1892 only; their identifying brass disc rates four stars in AWP. Wood and metal near fine. From the collection of Steve Dice. Good+ 200-400
