B67-352 JOINTER. Hardy Patent. Patented by Cyrus Hardy in 1872 and sold by the Boston Metallic Plane Co., the large holes in the sole were supposed to reduce weight and friction. The cutter with the bent-down end that should engage a slot on the cutter adjustment has been replaced with a more conventional unmarked cutter which needs to be adjusted manually. The tote has a well reglued tip, wood otherwise decent with a few scratches. Metal is oxidized but without rust or pitting. Original lever cap with its geometric pattern, but nickel plating mostly gone. A decent example of a very rare plane that will display well, if you can get past the improper cutter. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good- 150-300
