B67-358 INFILL MITRE PLANE. Robert Towell. 8" dovetailed sole, rosewood fill and wedge, proper I & H Sorby 1-3/4" iron, Towell's name and "London" on the Cupid's bow iron bridge. The metal has a few spots of shallow rust and the wood has light wear, user name stamped in the wood ahead of the throat. Very tight mouth. Towell began working in London around 1830 and is known for his distinctive dovetailed rebate and mitre planes. A nice example of an early and uncommon maker. Good+ 600-900
