B68-544 JACK PLANE. Louis Rodier. Rodier's 1879 patent was for his faucet-handle adjustment mechanism, intended to simultaneously regulate the set of the cutter and the width of the mouth, but his planes, manufactured by Laflin Manufacturing, are best known for their corrugated sides and the serpentine grooves cast into the sole, which are described in the patent but not claimed. This one is in the 14-1/2" jack size, with a 2-1/8" Buck Bros. cutter. Nickel plating on lever cap is about 50%, wood has light wear, metal oxidized but no rust or pitting. A nice example of a rare plane. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good+ 500-1000
