Y-289. EARLY WOODEN LEVEL. D.M. Lyon & Clearman. 30" mahogany stock, wide brass side plate on one side, brass tips. Brass good and not polished, wood has minor wear only. D.M. Lyon made tools in Newark NJ beginning in the 1840s and for a short time from 1856 to 1860 he paired with Clearman. Partial round hardware store label on the end. From the Don Rosebrook collection.
